A New Efficient Cuckoo Search MPPT Algorithm Based on a Super-Twisting Sliding Mode Controller for Partially Shaded Standalone Photovoltaic System

The impact of Partial Shading Conditions (PSCs) significantly influences the output Photovoltaic Systems (PVSs). Under PSCs, Power-Voltage (P-V) characteristic PVS unveils numerous power peaks, inclusive local maxima and a global maximum. latter represents optimum point. Traditional Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithms struggle to track Global (GMPP). To address this, our study emphasizes creation novel algorithm capable identifying GMPP. This approach combines Cuckoo Search (CS) MPPT with an Integral Super-Twisting Sliding Mode Controller (STSMC) using their benefits enhance performance under PSCs in terms high efficiency, low losses, high-speed convergence towards STSMC is second-order Control strategy that employs continuous control action attenuates “chattering” phenomenon, caused when first-order SMC technique employed. Indeed, proposed CS-STSMC-MPPT consists two parts. first one based on CS used for scanning power-voltage curve identify GMPP, subsequently generating associated optimal voltage reference. second part aims reference by manipulating duty cycle boost converter. featured its strength against uncertainties modeling errors. obtained simulation results underline speed excellent precision method tracking GMPP efficiency varying shading scenarios. For comparative purposes, this set hybrid CS-Proportional Derivative, conventional CS, Particle Swarm Optimization, Perturb Observe different including zero, weak, severe shading. Simulation conducted Matlab/Simulink environment confirms superior precision, speed, resilience.
